Shared Leadership
Cooperation – Complex problems require cooperation and coordination. It isn’t necessary (or even healthy) for us all to agree about everything; but we do need to find ways to work together wherever possible, and to share the effort to build a better tomorrow with others whose views and approaches may differ significantly from our own.
- Support cooperative R&D efforts between our research universities and corporations
- Continue to explore and pursue regional forms of governance
- Encourage collaboration between non-profits: joint efforts and joint ventures as opposed to “one-off” independent actions
- Encourage existing leaders to mentor and develop new leaders, and to provide these new leaders with opportunities to participate at the highest levels in civic discussions, board memberships, etc.
- Support the efforts of other organizations and companies pursuing different yet complementary approaches that assume different assumptions about the possible futures we face; a pluralistic approach to the future is more likely to yield the most robust results
