Why Cleveland? Because Cleveland + [you name it] = A Better Life
As a transplant myself (coming up on four years now) who has lived in a number of cities on both coasts from Boston to NY to DC all the way down to Florida and LA out west, I’m delighted when people who grew up here start to realize just how much beauty and specialness we non-natives see in the Greater Cleveland area. Withness the great discussion going on over at Brewed Fresh Daily today around a letter from a west coaster looking to move here.
There was some grumbling (as you’d expect) when the whole Cleveland + branding initiative was launched, but for me the only issue was the missing equals sign in the equation: Cleveland + [fill in your own blanks here–for me it’s a great house and neighborhood + excellent school + more relaxed lifestyle + lower cost of living + easy access to great recreation, water, etc. etc.] = Happiness. A better Life. Community…again, fill in your own answers here.
But it’s the whole equation–including what it all adds up to–that makes things work here better than they do in other places. I sympathize very much with the woman on the west coast in the too tiny overpriced home. Trust me–she’s going to be MUCH happier when she finally gets here.
