EVENT: A Forum on Our Future
Short notice, but well worth it. COSE at the Greater Cleveland Partnership will be hosting a Future Forum June 7. This public forum hosts regional and national thought leaders who will provide a global outlook for what our world will look like in the next ten to fifteen years. MODERATOR Dr. Lester A. Lefton President, Kent State University. Dr. Lefton is respected internationally for his scholarship in the field of experimental psychology and is a leading authority on visual attention and memory.
ENVIRONMENT Michael MacCracken, Ph.D. Chief Scientist for Climate Change Programs, Climate Institute. Dr. MacCracken’s internationally renowned research most recently includes participating in a group of experts convened at the request of the UN’s Commission on Sustainable Development to suggest the best measures for mitigating and adapting to global climate change.
FILM Ivan Elias Schwarz, Vice President, Greater Cleveland Film Commission. In October of 2006, Schwarz left sunny Los Angeles to help market Cleveland as a premium location to the film industry. He was most recently the location manager for the HBO series “Entourage.”
SPORTS Dave Gilbert President & CEO, Greater Cleveland Sports Commission (GCSC). During his tenure with the GCSC, Gilbert has been responsible for attracting over 60 sporting events to the Cleveland area, with a monetary impact of over $170 million.
INFORMATION Sari Feldman Executive Director, Cuyahoga County Public Library. Sari Feldman heads one of the nation’s ten busiest library systems. In 2006, a total of 15.9 million items were borrowed, branches were visited 6.8 million times and the library’s website had eight million hits.
