Cleveland Plus

Normally, as a tech-based blog, the announcement of a new marketing campaign wouldn’t be fodder for coverage here. But as a tech-based economic development blog, any effort designed to draw attention to the resources available here in the region deserves our attention.

To day the Greater Cleveland Marketing Alliance (or what was formerly known as the GCMA) announced their new campaign for the region: Cleveland+, as in Cleveland + Akron + Canton + Youngstown. And, I have to admit, after this morning’s kickoff, it really does add up:

Over 4 million people throughout 6,000 square miles and 4 MSAs

A dynamic business environment thriving in bioscience, alternative energies, advanced manufacturing and polymers

A skilled workforce of over 2 million; 30 universities and colleges with more than 27,000 college graduates annually

Largest U.S. population within a 250-mile radius

Ranked in the top 10 for logistics and transportation infrastructure

Affordable and accessible world-class business, arts and culture

Add it all up, and you get a whole that truly is more than just the sum of its parts–not to mention a great place to liv, learn, work and invest.

In the nearly two years NorTech has been touting the region’s strengths here at TechFutures, a growing and global audience has started paying attention. Now, with the weight of the region’s major chambers of commerce, visitor’s bureaus, and other regional development organizations behind a unified campaign that message should start reaching an even larger crowd.
